Disaster Action Team We are looking for members to join out DAT, that will respond to local disasters. If you are interested in taking the DAT training, contact the Chapter Office at 419 468 5611. According to Michael Vance, acting Chapter Executive there is always a need for trained disaster workers, who can help when a disaster strikes. The most common is the single family fires, going in to the winter months, the risk is higher. Local Disaster Training is ongoing, in the chapter office, the next disaster class is Mass Care, Sheltering. When families are forced to leave their homes, the Red Cross opens shelters. The need for trained Shelter Teams is necessary, it is fast pace, and long hours but families need a place safe, some good food, and the best information. We would be interested in a local church that would like to take on the task of a shelter team. Church members would take the Shelter Training as a team, and when the need presented, they would open the building as a shelter. The Red Cross will provide all the supplies, buys all the food, needs for the shelters. If you or your church would be interested in join the Red Cross shelter as a team, contact Michael Vance in the office.
